Roadmap
Replay. Simulate. Explore.
Three phases, each useful on its own. Only the first is being built. The other two are proposals that may change or never ship, and nothing here is a promise of a feature or a date.

Phases
From storytelling to a mobility sandbox.
Phase 1 · In progress
Replay & Share
A standalone travel-diary storytelling app. Import a TripLibre export, pick a day, watch it again, and share a summary after reviewing what it reveals.
Done when a user can do all of that locally, with no account, no backend, and TripLibre not running.
- Import from FilesIn progress
Choose a TripLibre SQLite export with the iOS Files picker. The file is opened read-only.
- Compatibility checkIn progress
Check the database and its schema version before reading, and explain in plain words why a file can't be used.
- Day picker & timelineIn progress
List recorded days with their trip counts, then show a day's trips and stops in order.
- Map replayIn progress
Play, pause, restart and scrub. Recorded geometry when it exists; a clearly schematic line when only endpoints do.
- Share card with redactionIn progress
A static summary image. Hide or generalise start and end places and exact times, see the exact output, then share.
- Video exportPlanned
A short replay video. A candidate for the release after the first one.
Phase 2 · Planned
ReShape
An interactive sandbox for "what if?". Build alternative versions of a recorded day and set them next to the original.
A synthetic day is the output of a model and its assumptions. It is not observed behaviour and not a prediction of what any person will do.
- Edit a dayPlanned
Change departure times, stop durations, activity order and selected travel assumptions.
- Agent-based simulationPlanned
Explicitly parameterised agent-based or random (stochastic) simulation, with every parameter visible. In an agent-based model, a simulated traveller follows simple rules and the day emerges from them.
- Synthetic labels everywherePlanned
Every generated journey is marked synthetic on the map, the timeline and anything shared.
- Compare with the originalPlanned
Put a simulated day beside the recorded one; the recorded diary is never changed.
Phase 3 · Exploratory
Advisory
Decision support that you steer. You choose what matters and see the trade-offs; the app does not decide what an "optimal" day is.
No claims of real-world savings without validated inputs and models.
- Your objectivesExploratory
Time, distance, cost, emissions, convenience, or your own mix of priorities.
- Your constraintsExploratory
Respect activity schedules and other limits you set.
- "Keep my original day" baselineExploratory
Doing nothing is always one of the options, and every alternative is compared against the unchanged diary.
- Explained resultsExploratory
Show the assumptions, uncertainty and trade-offs behind every comparison.
Out of scope
What TripLibreLab will not become.
- A second TripLibreRecording location stays TripLibre's job. TripLibreLab only reads exports.
- A navigation appNo turn-by-turn directions and no live routing.
- A social networkNo accounts, feeds or cloud sync. Sharing is a file you choose to send.
- A life optimiserAlternatives come with their trade-offs; the choice stays yours.
